About the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce:
The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce has been serving Calabasas since 1955 as a non-profit volunteer organization comprised of relationships with local businesses and leaders interested in enhancing the local economy and quality of life in Calabasas (pop. 23,988) and surrounding areas. The Chamber is a valuable link between businesses, local government, and the general public. The Chamber currently serves 376 active members ranging from large for-profit corporations, small businesses, and entrepreneurs, to charitable, social service and educational organizations. The Calabasas Chamber is governed by its board of directors comprised of dynamic leaders drawn from active members.

To act as a visitor center and community bureau for residents, businesses, and visitors to obtain city statistics and demographics.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The President/CEO will provide high profile leadership and strategic direction for the programs and personnel of the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce. This position will lead Board efforts to achieve the mission and goals of the Chamber as approved by the Board of Directors. The Chamber staff reports to the President/CEO. This position will provide the right candidate with a chance to use their outgoing personality, communication skills, social media promotion and marketing expertise, leadership, and professional drive to advance the Chamber by attracting new members, energizing current ones, promoting businesses, organizing, and executing fundraising events, and increasing community engagement.
ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP:

Creates and manages an environment that recruits, retains, and supports quality staff, cultivating a culture of professional growth and leadership building.

Oversees the recruitment, hiring, and training of agency personnel, ensuring HR policies are updated, upheld, and supported in accordance with the law.

Serves as the Principal and Chief communicator for business advocacy with various governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Consistently seeks, includes, and implements the feedback of all Chamber members.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:

Represents the Chamber at local, regional, and state meetings and conventions to foster the betterment of the Chamber's mission.

Oversees the development and execution of community events identified with the Chamber, enhances visibility and recognition, and generates revenue.

Identifies and recruits both established and emerging business and community leaders to serve as volunteer leaders of the organization, supporting and guiding them to contribute to the Chamber's success.

Develops and maintains strong working relationships with local government officials, Board members, affiliates, and other community leaders to achieve the goals of the Chamber and the greater community.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

Responsible for the financial health of the organization, including revenue generation and expense management.

Develops and executes fundraising strategies that further the mission and financial resources of the Chamber.
BOARD ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPORT:

Empowers and supports the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance functions and participation.

Plans, organizes, and executes Board and executive committee meetings with the Board Chair.

Identifies, assesses, and informs the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that would impact the organization.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Manage Chamber business in a sound financial manner and supervise staff.

Promote memberships and attract sponsorship revenue for the Chamber.

Form and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships by networking with business owners, community organizations, and public officials.

Provide effective representation as the face of the Chamber at city and community events.

Promote Chamber activities using traditional and digital media outlets, including social media platforms, website management, video production, on-camera interviews, and written formats.

Oversee and create engaging social media and video content to promote the Chamber and local businesses.

Foster business and tourism development, introduce marketing and branding concepts leading to growth and prosperity of large and small employers in the Calabasas area.

Be well informed regarding local/state/federal legislation regarding business and social issues.

Embrace and promote diversity, equality, and inclusivity efforts in all Chamber related functions, activities, and messaging.

Demonstrate knowledge and expertise on economic development principles, regional economy, and political environment.

Hire, train and maintain staff providing the support and leadership to offer growth opportunities.
While responding to the entire Board of Directors, the President/CEO will report directly to its Executive Committee.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-
Past leadership position for a company or non-profit organization preferably, or skills sets that demonstrate the ability to learn the position requirements quickly.

Financial management ability to develop and present budgets, P/L, etc. to ensure the strength of the Chamber.

Event planning background for success of Chamber sponsored events, breakfast/luncheon networking meetings, membership mixers, etc.

Outgoing and engaging personality.

Ability to attract and motivate Board members and volunteers.
-
Strong written and oral communication skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Quick Books, and the ability to learn other necessary programs including Chamber related software.

Self-motivating and reliable.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing/advertising, public relations, public administration, or similar background.

Executive experience within a private business or not-for-profit organization.

Experience in supervising a small paid staff with proven ability to recruit, develop, coach, motivate, and empower staff to accomplish goals and objectives.

Experience working in a membership/sponsorship driven organization.
-
Experience in organization, business management, marketing, advertising, and communication.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary commensurate with experience and a generous benefits package.
65K-75K annually+ bonus + commission.
